Course policies

Cancellation, attendance & rebooking

These rules apply to our public blended courses: the ones you book yourself from the calendar. Group and on-site training booked for a workplace is arranged separately, so talk to us directly for those.

Every request must be made by email, to info@barriefirstaidtraining.com. Text messages, WhatsApp, phone calls and any other channel are not official notice for a date change, a cancellation or a refund. If it is not in an email, it did not happen.

Before you book

What you get back depends on how much of the online training you have used, and whether you have picked an in-person date yet.

The format

How the course is structured

Every public course has a mandatory online component and a scheduled in-person session. The online training must be finished before you attend the in-person class.

  • Not completed the online training means you are not permitted to attend the in-person session
  • Arrive without having completed it and you will be asked to leave, and will pay to rebook

Your online access is issued immediately when you register, and it cannot be reused once completed.

Refunds

Before an in-person date is booked

All approved refunds are subject to a $5 non-refundable processing fee, which covers the credit card cost our payment provider does not return to us.

  • Online training not started: 100% refund, less the $5 fee
  • Started but not completed: 90% refund, less the $5 fee
  • Online training completed: 50% refund, less the $5 fee

Changing or cancelling a booking

Once you hold a seat on a specific date, the deadline is seven days. Public courses have limited seating and a missed seat cannot be reassigned at short notice.

The deadline

Once a date is booked

No refunds are issued for cancellations made within seven days of the scheduled in-person course date.

No date changes or transfers are permitted within seven days either, and that includes moving to a later public course.

Exceptions

Illness, emergencies and late requests

Notice must reach us at least 48 hours before the course start time. Requests made 48 hours or more in advance may be reviewed case by case. With less than 48 hours’ notice, no refund is issued and you will pay to rebook.

Any request made within seven days of the date goes to internal review, and a decision can take up to 72 hours while we check capacity, instructor availability and participant history. Submitting a request does not guarantee approval, and the course may go ahead as scheduled while the review is under way.

A no-show is a no-show. If you do not attend, there is no refund.

On the day

Classes start on time so that everyone gets a safe and effective session. Five things will turn you away at the door, and all five are avoidable: arriving more than 15 minutes late, no valid photo ID, unfinished online training, no indoor shoes or socks, and being unable to take part safely.

What to bring

Photo ID, and indoor footwear

Your ID must be original, valid and government-issued, showing a photo and your full legal name. Photocopies and photos on a phone are not accepted, because your certificate carries the name on that ID. The full provincial list is on ontario.ca.

  • Ontario Driver’s Licence, Enhanced Licence or Ontario Photo Card
  • Canadian or foreign passport, or Permanent Resident Card
  • Secure Certificate of Indian Status, Canadian Armed Forces ID or NEXUS Card
  • Citizenship Card with photo issued before February 2012, BYID Card, or a PAL

You also need indoor shoes or socks, because much of the session is spent on the floor. Disposable covers or socks are a courtesy where we have them, not a guarantee. Decline them, or arrive unable to meet the requirement, and you will not be permitted to attend, will not receive a refund, and will pay to rebook.

Conduct

Attendance and behaviour

You will be refused entry, and will pay to rebook, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, do not bring valid photo ID, have not completed the online training, do not have indoor shoes or socks, or are unable to participate safely or appropriately.

Anyone who disrupts the instructor, delays the class or interferes with other participants’ learning will be removed from the course, will not receive a refund, and may be barred from future courses.

Your certificate

Delivered the same day or the next business day after you complete the course.

Certificates are issued by Assured Response, a WSIB-approved training provider, and first aid course content meets CSA Z1210:24. Barrie First Aid & CPR Training delivers the training as an affiliate of Assured Response.

You can look up any of our instructors by name or instructor ID on the Assured Response public instructor registry, so you never have to take our word for who taught you.
