First aid & CPR for Georgian BScN nursing
The certification you need
Intermediate First Aid + CPR-BLS
CPR must be at the BLS level for hospital placements.
Georgian's Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) requires Intermediate First Aid with CPR at the BLS level before you go out on clinical placement. BLS is the healthcare-provider CPR level your hospital placements expect, and CPR-A or CPR-C will not clear it.
One blended course covers both certifications: 9 hours online at your own pace, then a 7.5-hour in-class day in Barrie, minutes from Georgian. Select BLS as your CPR level when you book.

- If your Intermediate First Aid has lapsed, take the full course: it renews both your first aid and your CPR-BLS at once. If it is still valid, recertification is the shorter route, and you can choose BLS on it too.
- If your First Aid is still valid and only your CPR-BLS is expiring, renew just the CPR part with our CPR & AED (BLS) course, $73 + HST.
- Intermediate First Aid is valid 3 years; CPR-BLS is valid 1 year and is renewed every year, and you maintain both through Synergy Gateway to keep your clinical permit valid.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN): common questions
What certification does the Georgian BScN program require?
Intermediate First Aid with CPR at the BLS level. Both come from one blended course ($138 + HST) with BLS selected at checkout. The first aid certificate is valid 3 years and the CPR-BLS certificate renews every year.
My Intermediate First Aid has expired before placement. Which course do I take?
Take the full Intermediate First Aid & CPR course. It renews your first aid and your CPR-BLS together, so you are cleared for clinical placement.
Do I have to renew my CPR every year?
Yes. A CPR-BLS certificate is valid for one year, while your Intermediate First Aid stays valid for 3, so between full renewals you take just the CPR & AED (BLS) course, $73 + HST.
Which CPR level do I choose: A, C or BLS?
BLS. The BScN program and its hospital placements require the BLS (Basic Life Support) level, not A or C.
