CPR-BLS

While your Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification remains valid for 3 years, CPR-BLS certification is commonly renewed annually to meet placement and employer requirements.
Maintaining both certifications helps ensure your clinical permit requirements remain up to date through Synergy Gateway and that you are prepared for upcoming placements.

Half online and half in class blended CPR and First Aid Training. Total of 14 hours, 6 online and 8 in class. First complete the online modules, then register for and complete the in class and instructor led component. Learn the theory and gain the practical hands-on skills you need to save lives.
Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-BLS Certification
This course is typically taken every 3 years and is required by many Georgian College healthcare programs before attending clinical placements.

If your Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification has expired, or you are obtaining certification for the first time, this is the course you need.

CPR-BLS
CPR-BLS certification is commonly renewed every year by healthcare students and professionals.
If your Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification is still valid but your CPR-BLS certification is expiring, this is usually the course you need.
Annual CPR-BLS renewal helps support your Synergy Gateway clinical permit requirements and keeps your lifesaving skills current for placements and employment.
Half online and half in-class blended Intermediate First Aid (Standard First Aid) & CPR Recertification course. If you hold a valid Intermediate First Aid (Standard First Aid) and CPR certification from an Ontario-based, WSIB-approved certifying body (Assured Response First Aid & CPR Training, Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, etc.), you can enroll in this program. Total course time is 8 hours: 4 hours online and 4 hours in class.
Intermediate (Standard) First Aid Recertification
This course is intended for students whose Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification is still valid and approaching its expiry date.
⚠️ Your current Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification must still be valid on the day of the course to be eligible for recertification.
This course renews your:
✅ Intermediate (Standard) First Aid Certification (3-year renewal)
✅ CPR-BLS Certification
This course is NOT intended for annual CPR-BLS renewal only.
If your Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification is still valid but your CPR-BLS certification is expiring, you only need to register for a CPR-BLS Renewal course.
If your Intermediate (Standard) First Aid certification has already expired, you must register for the full Intermediate (Standard) First Aid & CPR-BLS course instead of a recertification course.
